New Delhi, 13 February 2026 :- A condolence meeting was held at the headquarters of the National Union of Journalists (India) to pay tribute to Shri Dhirendra Nath Chakravarty, President of the Journalists Association of Assam.NUJI President Ras Bihari paid homage to Shri Chakravarty and spoke about his life and contributions. He mentioned that 97-year-old Shri Chakravarty remained active in journalism until his last days. He edited several newspapers in Assam during his long career.

President of the Delhi Journalists Association, Rakesh Thapliyal, stated that Shri Chakravarty held a significant place in the field of journalism in Assam and had been honored with several awards. Among those present at the condolence meeting were Ashok Kinkar (Member, NUJI Election Commission), Anil Pandey (Chairman, NUJ School of Journalism and Communication), Amalesh Raju (NUJ Secretary), Priyaranjan (DJA Secretary), and members Pradeep Shrivastava, Ashok Barthwal, Anuj Gupta, Arvind Kumar, and others.
