Demand for Strong Action against Culprits Who Assaulted Scribes in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, December 2, 2025:

The National Union of Journalists (India) has demanded strict and immediate action against the culprits involved in the misbehavior and brutal assault on journalists on November 28, 2025.
 
According to reports, two journalists were beaten up in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday (November 28, 2025) while reporting on alleged corruption in the RTO office. Police said that seven people have been booked in the case. Hemant Sharma, a reporter with a national news channel, and Raja Khan, the channel’s cameraperson, were attacked on the RTO premises in Indore’s Nayta Mundla by a group of men.
 
The National Union of Journalists (India) strongly condemns the brutal attack and urges the authorities to launch an immediate and impartial investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.
 
Ras Bihari, President of the National Union of Journalists (India), strongly condemned the assault on the scribes in Madhya Pradesh. He said that in a democracy, the media has the freedom and responsibility to show the real picture. He added that cases of attacks on media persons will also be taken up with the Press Council of India.

Pradeep Tiwari, Secretary General, stated that any kind of attack on media persons cannot be tolerated, and NUJ(I) strongly condemns this incident. Expressing deep concern over the growing number of such assaults in the state, the NUJ(I) President said that journalists are being attacked every day, which is unacceptable under any circumstances.
