New Dehi. Incident of arresting journalists on false charges are increasing like anything throughout the country. There is no protection measures.Only two States have enacted Journalist Protection Act. Situation is very much alarming. Raising this point in Press Council meeting held here on Thursday Prasanna Mohanty, Member PCI demanded that before arresting any journalist the Police should intimate the Press Council of India with a note  justifying the action. Mr Mohanty pointed out that if any MP and MLA is arrested then Speaker is to be intimated by the concerned authorities.Same practice should be followed incase of Journalists so that unnecessary harrasment by police can be checked .This proposal was supported by many members. PCI Chairman Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai also favours the proposal and assured to pass a favorable order in this  context
