Haridwar. NUJI National President Ras Bihari received a grand welcome on his arrival in Haridwar. In his Garhwal division tour, NUJI President said that we have units in 26 states of the country, and we are dedicated to work in the interest of journalists. It has been 52 years since the establishment of NUJ(I), in during those years, NUJ(I) has been working in the interests of journalists by raising issues related to journalists with prominence. Due to the efforts of NUJ(I), Journalist Protection Act has been implemented in three states Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. NUJ (I) is trying to implement the Journalist Protection Act, Journalist Pension and Journalist Health Insurance, free travel in transport etc. facilities in the interest of journalists across the country. Journalist Protection Act, increase in pension given to journalists and journalist health insurance should be implemented in the state of Uttarakhand.
He said that in the past, NUJ(I) had met the Chief Minister regarding the above demands for the interests of journalists. But till now the Uttarakhand government has not shown any positive stance on the above demands of the journalists. Regarding this, after the Lok Sabha elections, NUJ (I) will protest at the Information Directorate in Dehradun demanding implementation of Journalist Protection Act, increase in pension given to journalists and Journalist Health Insurance for the interests of journalists across the state and will write to the Chief Minister. Will also submit a memorandum addressed to the CM.
The National President said that in Uttarakhand too, NUJ (I) is working for the interests of journalists on a large scale. Whatever is possible will be done by them at the national level for the interests of the journalists of Uttarakhand, work will be done to provide respect as well as justice to the journalists. But harassment of journalists across the country will not be tolerated at any cost. NUJ(I) will not step back no matter what extent it has to go through for the interests of journalists. The trust that journalists across the country have on NUJ(I) will be maintained at all costs.
