NUJ (I) RAISES STRONG OBSERVATIONS OVER ANDHRA PRADESH HIGH COURT

 JUDGEMENT ON MEDIA RESTRICTIONS.

September 17,2020 :-  National Union of Journalists (India) affiliated to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ)  has expressed serious observation over the  the judgement of Andhra Pradesh High Court  restricting media not to disclose details of the FIR filed by the officers at Anti Corruption Bureau against a former State law official and others regarding land purchase at Amravati.

High Court on Tuesday late evening “directed that the news in regard registration of fir or in context of the said fir shall not be made public in any electronic, print or social media”.

In a joint statement NUJ(I) President Ras Bihari, Secretary General Prasanna Mohanty,Delhi Journalist Association (DJA) President Rakesh Thapliyal and  President of Journalist Association of Andhra Pradesh  (JAAP)  Punnam Raju have  strongly felt that  such type of order  is not only unfortunate but also  against the spirit of freedom of Press. It amounts to an encroachment into the rights and privilege of the fourth pillar of democracy. The Union leaders have expressed their strong view that the matter should be reconsidered in the larger interest and there should not be any overreaching on rights of the Fourth Estate.
