NUJ(I) is now active in almost every state of the country and also in all digital platforms. NUJ(I) which strives to preserve and protect the freedom of journalists, we must thank our National President Mr. Ras Bihari and secretary General Mr Prasanna Mohanty for this achievement.
Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Ras Bihari and Secretary General Mr Prasanna Mohanty all members are now able to take an active part in representing the professional interests of journalists.
We thank you IFJ for on time support and guidance.

The National Union of Journalists India NUJ(I) has welcomed the Madras High Court ruling that powerful politicians and corporates' misuse defamation cases to intimidate the media. The court has said that just a few mistakes in reporting do not give the prosecution the right to be convicted

NUJ(I) to Honor heroes of the Corona era, constituted selection committee., Union has announced to honor the heroes of the Corona era for the organizations and individuals who have done remarkable work in the Corona period. A seven-member selection committee (Committee formed under the chairmanship of noted journalist and former chairman of Editors Guild of India Mr Alok Mehta), has been formed to select professionals, common people and organizations working as frontline warriors amid the Corona epidemic.

A webinar meeting of National Executive of National Union of Journalists (India) was held at central office New Delhi. A detailed discussion on various issues pertaining to the media was discussed. The focus was on the effect of COVID19 on Media.
Ras Bihari NUJ(I) President preside the meeting, NUJ(I) executive discussed on Proposal for Constitution Amendment of NUJ(I), Appointment of IFJ Coordinator and Organizing Secretary of NUJ(I), NUJ(I) to honour Corona Heroes, Relations with other journalists Unions, Organizational Report – State Units to Report, Zonewise Whatsapp Group – District Presidents and General Secretary to be added.
The executive meeting adopted resolutions on Atrocities on Journalists – COVID 19 , Retrenchment and Cut off in salaries of journalists due to COVID 19 crisis and Demand for special financial package for Small and Medium Newspapers due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Secretary General Prasanna Mohanty voted for thanks.

West Bengal Governor, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar has assured the National Union of Journalists (India) to ensure press freedom in the state and protect all journalists against coercive and arbitrary actions. He responded to a letter written by NUJ(I) to stop harassment of journalists in the state.

NUJ(I) demanded financial support for TV5 Journalist Manoj Kumar who died due to Covid 19 in Hyderabad .the NUJ(I) urges the Chief Minister of Telangana to take immediate action to help the deceased family providing financial aid.

NUJ(I) has written a letter to UP CM regarding fabricated and false cases against the journalists in Fatehpur, Sitapur, Kanpur and some other districts of Uttar Pradesh have also registered cases against journalists. NUJ(I) urges him to withdraw these cases as it feels an attack on democracy.

Further, We would like to bring to your knowledge that NUJI's state units also helped unemployed journalists due to the Corona epidemic. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand state units provided ration and financial support to journalists and are with them on this critical phase of the situation.
