National Union of Journalists (India) Announces Formation of Journalists Protection Forum

New Delhi: On the occasion of the 54th Foundation Day of the National Union of Journalists (India), the Delhi Journalists Association organised a ceremonial programme at its office located at 7, Jantar Mantar Road, New Delhi. On the auspicious occasion of Vasant Panchami, a Saraswati Puja was also performed at the office. A seminar was organised during the event, focusing on the challenges faced by the media.

During the seminar, Ras Bihari, National President of the National Union of Journalists (India), member, International Federation of Journalists, announced the formation of the Journalists Protection Forum. The forum will function under the guidance of NUJ (India) and the aegis of the Journalists Welfare Foundation, with the objective of protecting the interests and rights of journalists across the country.

Addressing the gathering, NUJ President Ras Bihari said that journalists are currently facing numerous new challenges. The nature and platforms of journalism are changing rapidly.
