New Delhi (January 27, 2015): The National Union of Journalists (India) NUJ(I) is deeply saddened by the demise of eminent cartoonist R K Laxman. He was 94. Born in Mysore on October 24, 1921 was a veteran Indian cartoonist. # Laxman was associated with Free Press Journal in the 1950s and other journals. Brother of novelist the late R K Narayan. Laxman is survived by wife Kamala and son Srinivas, retired journalist. # In a statement, NUJ President Uppala Lakshman and Secretary General Prasanna Mohanty expressed their grief over the sad demise of R K Laxman. # Chairman Journalists Welfare Foundation Dr N K Trikha said, Laxman ji touched the lives of the common people in many ways.
