New Delhi : March 2, 2012 :- The National Union of Journalists (India) condemned the attack on media persons in Bangalore by lawyers in a city court on Friday even as they were waiting to cover BJP leader Gali Janardhan Reddy’s appearance in the court. According to reports, a TV cameraman of a Kannada channel was injured in the head while several other mediapersons suffered blows as lawyers pounced on them when they were coming out of the court of additional civil and sessions judge BM Angadi where Reddy appeared.
The NUJ(I) strongly condemned the incident, urged the authorities concerned to take strict action against those involved in the attack. NUJ(I) demanded that a judicial inquiry should be conducted and whoever found guilty in the attack against media men should be punished. NUJ(I) again urged the State Government to compensate the loss of equipments of the scribes and also bear the expenses of entire treatments.
