The BJP President Shri Nitin Gadkari today assured the Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency employees’ Organizations that his party fully supported immediate implementation of the Wage Boards for the Journalists and non-journalist employees of the Newspaper and News Agencies organizations.# “We will take up the issue with the government and urge it to force the newspapers owners to implement the recommendations of the two wage boards”, Shri Gadkari assured the delegation. A delegation of the Federation called on Shri Gadkari at his residence here and apprised him of the latest development with regard to the government notification issued on November 11, 2011, accepting the recommendations of the two wage boards. The delegation members complained that owners of the newspaper industry have not implemented these recommendations causing extreme hardship to lakhs of the employees of the industry and their families. They alleged that owners of the newspaper industry have been pressurized by the Indian Newspapers Society (INS) not to implement the award despite the fact that the Hon’ble Supreme Court has categorically refused to give them any relief.# “As national president of the main opposition party and as a friend of the newspaper industry, we urge your intervention on the subject and force the government to take up the issue with the owners of the newspaper industry”, the delegation told Shri Gadkari.# The delegation included M.S.Yadav ( General Secretary, Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees’ Organizations) , Rajendra Prabhu and N.K. Trikha (NUJ-I), Suresh Akhauri (President Indian Journalists Union), Madan Talwar, General Secretary, All India Newspaper Employees Federation) and C.S. Naidu (General Secretary, Indian Express Employees Union).#
