New Delhi, November 13, 2014: Veteran Journalist and founder member of National Union of Journalists India, Arabindo Ghose passed away at All India Institute of AIIMS in New Delhi today. He was 82. He was suffering from asthma and some other disease for some and was bedridden for several months. He is survived by his wife and a son. ## Arabindo Ghose had long journalist career and worked with many newspapers in India and Nepal. He worked for Motherland, Organiser, Hindusthan Samachar and some other newspapers. He was correspondent of Hindustan Samachar at Nepal for a long time before shifting to The Motherland and then served Hindustan Times as special correspondent where he was widely respected for his coverage of agriculture and railways. After retiring from the Hindustan Times he served as editor of a BJP magazine, Kamal Sandesh, at its founding editor. A lifelong trade unionist he was also founding member of the NUJ(I) in which he held several offices for long. ## In a tribute NUJ(I) President and Secretary General termed the demise of Arabindo Ghose a major loss to journalism and particularly to the NUJ(I) as he had been a very active member.
